About Erica

Erica became a massage therapist in 2015. She specializes in deep tissue treatment and hot stone therapies. She has continued her education, taking many classes including lomi-lomi, thai yoga massage, reiki, reflexology and muscle specific deep tissue techniques. It is her passion to provide a healing balance to her clients through massage. Erica achieves the best results by using a combination of all of the massage modalities that she’s studied.

Erica is also trained as a certified yoga instructor which allows her to better understand body movement and assess injury and mobility restrictions. She understands how critical aftercare is for massage and gives her clients detailed instruction when needed. She combines her treatment work with cupping, heat therapies, hot stones and warm towels to relax the body and relieve pain and discomfort.

When Erica is not doing massage she is hiking, camping, sewing, rafting, biking, gardening, skiing and enjoying the outdoors!

Policies

  • All cancellations and rescheduled appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance. If you are unable to do so, and miss your appointment, you will be considered No Call/No Show, and will be charged in full for your missed appointment.

  • Please be on time, I want everyone to get the full time that was purchased. If you arrive late, you will get the remaining time for your massage. With a precise schedule and the need for extra cleaning between clients, there is no room to extend a session past the allotted time.

  • If this is your first massage with me, please arrive 5-10 minutes early for new client paperwork.

  • As a home business I don’t take walk ins, please use the online scheduling feature.

  • All sales including gift certificates are final. If you can not use a prepaid service you may transfer it to another person.

FAQ’s

Q: This is my first massage, will I be naked or clothed?

A: You can dress down to underwear or nothing(whatever you are most comfortable with). You will be well covered with a sheet and blanket and each area(back, leg, etc.) will be undraped as it is worked on, then covered again.

Q: What should I do after my massage?

A: In general you should drink plenty of water and I highly recommend icing any areas that were focused on(10-15 minutes at a time). It is not unusual to have some soreness after a deep tissue massage. No crazy workouts right after, take the opportunity to really let your body settle.

COVID 19 Precautions

Starting June 1, I will begin seeing clients again for massage. This is subject to change if the Washington State business recommendations change between now and then. For the safety of all and in accordance with CDC recommendations, I am making the following changes.

  • I will now be wearing a face mask for all appointments.

  • Upon arrival for your appointment, you will be offered hand sanitizer and a disposable face mask to be worn for the duration of your appointment.

  • All surfaces and massage table will be thoroughly disinfected between each client session in addition to the usual changing of linens between each appointment.

  • If you are feeling unwell, have a cough, fever, or any flu-like symptoms, please reschedule your appointment. During this time, all cancellation fees will be waived. If you don’t feel well, please let me know and we can find a better day for you to come in.

  • Please print and fill out this COVID-19 liability release form and bring it with you to your appointment.

Please let me know if you have any questions about these policies. Stay safe and be well, everyone.

 What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a bodywork system used for thousands of years to promote internal balance and optimal health. It is based on the principle that maps of the body(organs, muscles and systems) are reflected on the feet, hands and ears. Reflexologists will stimulate these neural pathways to encourage the body to re-balance itself. It has been shown to reduce pain, calm the nervous system, reduce stress, anxiety and in some cases of clients suffering from fatigue it can have an energizing effect.  It can bring people out of the sympathetic state(fight or flight) and into a parasympathetic state(rest, digest and repair). The parasympathetic state is where our bodies can best heal themselves. Unsurprisingly reflexology has been shown to decrease pain and neuropathy in the feet themselves and is often used as a complementary therapy for treating such conditions as plantar fasciitis. Reflexology is also incredibly relaxing, sleeping may occur.

Q: Why use reflexology WITH deep tissue massage?

A: My philosophy is this: Deep tissue massage is very effective in releasing fascia, tight muscles and aiding in recovery from injury. It can also be uncomfortable at times and this can take away from the relaxation that we seek from massage. By combining these two modalities we can do the hard work of deep tissue massage and then soothe the nervous system with reflexology afterwards for ideal results. So the client receives all the fabulous deep tissue bodywork with the element of deep relaxation from reflexology and they are able to leave the session in a parasympathetic state, ready to continue the healing process.

Q: Do you offer all three (foot, hand and ear) varieties of reflexology?

A: I only provide foot reflexology at this time.
